Example
One of your write ups each week can be writing up an example that illustrates a definition, as well as a non example that shows something that does not quite meet the conditions of the definition. Please use the Elements of Style for proofs as a guide to any mathematical writing. If you choose to write an example, make sure you carefully show how your example satisfies the definition. It is insufficient to just say, "This is an example." You need to fully justify why what you have created is an example.
When you are ready to type your example, please start by typing the name of the definition after the include statement above. This will cause the text of the definition to appear when you save this page. Then delete these explanation paragraphs and start typing up your work. See the LaTeX Commands page.
Non Example
Make sure you also provide an example of something that is not quite an example of the definition. Show where it fails satisfying the definition.
